The Western Environmental Law Center has learned of an error in a press release from 2011 regarding the use of rotenone by the U.S. Forest Service. Rotenone is a chemical that kills fish and is used to eradicate invasive species in order to restore native fish in rivers and streams.

We had won a case requiring the federal agency to study localized effects on aquatic life of applying rotenone in an 11-mile stretch of Silver King Creek in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness. The press release incorrectly stated that rotenone kills all life in waterways, including animals that drink from them.
