WELC Land Acknowledgement

The Western Environmental Law Center acknowledges that we live and work on the homelands of Indigenous Peoples across the western United States. We honor these original peoples who have long stewarded these lands, and we celebrate their resilience and richness of their languages, traditions, and cultures. We recognize their enduring and continuing relationships to the land: past, present, and future.

We are dedicated to learning more about waves of occupation and dispossession of western lands and resources, increasing our and others’ awareness, and acting in solidarity to respect and support Indigenous sovereignty. We encourage others to be open, learn more, and act in kind.

Here is a resource to help identify the lands we are on and we encourage others to do their own research to learn more about the land they inhabit: https://native-land.ca/
