En noviembre de 2025, la WQCC vot\u00f3 7-4 a favor de revocar su decisi\u00f3n de llevar a cabo la reglamentaci\u00f3n propuesta previamente por la industria. A esto le sigui\u00f3 una avalancha de art\u00edculos de oposici\u00f3n y resistencia:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">El peri\u00f3dico Santa Fe New Mexican escribi\u00f3 una cr\u00edtica mordaz. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/opinion\/editorials\/produced-water-stick-to-earlier-decision\/article_7e93d52f-83dc-468b-822a-0887a67e0a93.html#comments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">editorial<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">El director ejecutivo del Western Environmental Law Center, Erik Schlenker-Goodrich, escribi\u00f3 un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/opinion\/my_view\/reject-governors-fracking-waste-plot\/article_2fa11f6b-4699-43cc-97ce-1c5f9c79aa76.html#comments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art\u00edculo de opini\u00f3n<\/a> detallando los turbios negocios del gobernador y del secretario del Departamento de Medio Ambiente, Kenney.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Marcy Leavitt, hidr\u00f3loga estatal experta durante 23 a\u00f1os, escribi\u00f3 un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/opinion\/my_view\/pay-attention-produced-water-proposal-is-bad-for-n-m\/article_acfc604f-8653-4e3b-8bd7-8179721bd80e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art\u00edculo de opini\u00f3n<\/a> detallando lo incre\u00edblemente permisiva que ser\u00eda la norma propuesta por la industria para el vertido de aguas residuales t\u00f3xicas de petr\u00f3leo y gas en las aguas de Nuevo M\u00e9xico.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Sarah Knopp, experta en pol\u00edticas de Amigos Bravos, escribi\u00f3 un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taosnews.com\/opinion\/my-turn\/dont-be-flimflammed-by-oil-and-gas\/article_196eb62c-8418-5459-b44a-8ef167160321.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art\u00edculo de opini\u00f3n<\/a> detallando las t\u00e1cticas enga\u00f1osas que las grandes petroleras est\u00e1n utilizando para salirse con la suya en el vertido de sus desechos a las v\u00edas fluviales de Nuevo M\u00e9xico.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">El senador Harold Pope escribi\u00f3 apasionadamente en un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/opinion\/my_view\/tell-the-truth-about-produced-water\/article_78e92620-f459-4dd1-8261-9b7dbad3b08d.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art\u00edculo de opini\u00f3n<\/a> sobre la importancia de proteger nuestra agua de las aguas residuales de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas, y de mantener la integridad del WQCC.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">La directora ejecutiva de New Energy Economy, Mariel Nanasi, escribi\u00f3 un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/opinion\/my_view\/rulemaking-by-coercion-lets-stop-it\/article_40f316fe-b37e-48c1-81c4-0111dcc05b33.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art\u00edculo de opini\u00f3n<\/a> denunciando las t\u00e1cticas coercitivas del gobernador.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Las j\u00f3venes activistas Ennedith L\u00f3pez y Zoey Craft de YUCCA incluyeron este tema en su <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/opinion\/my_view\/n-m-needs-climate-action-not-backroom-deals\/article_fa37df7e-854b-43e6-88fb-71d8106afa82.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art\u00edculo de opini\u00f3n <\/a>sobre los \u201cacuerdos secretos\u201d del gobernador.\u201d<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Sterling Grogan, un experto en sistemas de agua y cient\u00edfico, expuso la ciencia y la corrupci\u00f3n del gobernador en un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/opinion\/my_view\/produced-water-pressure-and-the-right-to-science\/article_5b9ce08c-8066-4641-b88e-c96b02386fd9.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art\u00edculo de opini\u00f3n<\/a>, criticando al secretario del Departamento de Medio Ambiente, Kenney, por impedir que los cient\u00edficos de la agencia participaran en la audiencia sobre la elaboraci\u00f3n de normas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En noviembre de 2025, debido a las sospechas de irregularidades derivadas de la injerencia pol\u00edtica, la WQCC vot\u00f3 a favor de anular (desestimar) la propuesta de reglamentaci\u00f3n del sector para ese a\u00f1o. El sector ha reformulado su propuesta y ahora solicita nuevamente a la WQCC un nuevo proceso de elaboraci\u00f3n de normas.<\/p>\n<p><b>Declaraciones de las partes involucradas en el proceso de elaboraci\u00f3n de la normativa:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa oficina del gobernador manch\u00f3 a la Comisi\u00f3n de Control de la Calidad del Agua al presionar a sus miembros para que aprobaran la petici\u00f3n de las grandes petroleras y permitieran el vertido de aguas residuales \u2014un residuo t\u00f3xico\u2014 en las preciadas y escasas aguas limpias de Nuevo M\u00e9xico\u2018, declar\u00f3. <b>Tannis Fox, abogado principal del Western Environmental Law Center<\/b>. \u201cEn mis 25 a\u00f1os trabajando en este \u00e1mbito, jam\u00e1s hab\u00eda visto tal nivel de injerencia pol\u00edtica en la toma de decisiones de un organismo administrativo encargado de proteger la salud humana y el medio ambiente. Los l\u00edderes, expertos y ciudadanos de Nuevo M\u00e9xico se opusieron con raz\u00f3n, y la comisi\u00f3n rectific\u00f3 su error. Dar marcha atr\u00e1s, una vez m\u00e1s, pondr\u00eda en peligro la salud y la seguridad de los habitantes de Nuevo M\u00e9xico.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEn un momento en el que vemos c\u00f3mo las normas institucionales y la integridad del gobierno se desintegran ante nuestros ojos a nivel federal, es devastador ver una falta de integridad similar a nivel estatal\u201d, dijo <b>Rachel Conn, subdirectora de Amigos Bravos<\/b>. \u201cDependemos de la Comisi\u00f3n de Control de la Calidad del Agua para que tome decisiones imparciales basadas en las pruebas que tiene a su disposici\u00f3n.
