Perpetua est\u00e1 involucrado en esto para extraer y vender minerales p\u00fablicos para beneficio privado. El DEQ deber\u00eda saber que no debe ignorar la ley y perpetuar el da\u00f1o al r\u00edo Salmon y a la trucha toro en peligro de extinci\u00f3n.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>El sitio minero propuesto se encuentra junto al \u00c1rea Silvestre Frank Church-R\u00edo Sin Retorno y dentro del territorio de la tribu Nez Perc\u00e9. La extensa operaci\u00f3n incluir\u00eda tres minas a cielo abierto, plantas de procesamiento de mineral, carreteras, l\u00edneas de transmisi\u00f3n y viviendas para los trabajadores. Talar\u00eda miles de hect\u00e1reas de vegetaci\u00f3n, destruir\u00eda cientos de hect\u00e1reas de humedales, eliminar\u00eda el h\u00e1bitat de peces y fauna silvestre, generar\u00eda miles de millones de libras de desechos mineros t\u00f3xicos y deteriorar\u00eda los reg\u00edmenes de aguas superficiales y subterr\u00e1neas mucho m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la vida \u00fatil de la mina.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDEQ ha puesto constantemente los intereses de Perpetua Resources y esta mina por encima de los intereses del medio ambiente y la legislaci\u00f3n ambiental\u201d, dijo <b>Will Tiedemann, asociado de conservaci\u00f3n regulatoria en la Liga de Conservaci\u00f3n de Idaho<\/b>. La construcci\u00f3n operativa y las actividades mineras se extender\u00edan durante un per\u00edodo estimado de 15 a\u00f1os, mientras que el cierre y la recuperaci\u00f3n de la mina se llevar\u00edan a cabo entre los a\u00f1os 16 y 25. Seg\u00fan Perpetua, el oro representa 961 TP3T de las ganancias del proyecto y el antimonio solo 41 TP3T.<\/p>\n<p>La zona de operaci\u00f3n se extiende por las subcuencas de North Fork Payette River y South Fork Salmon River. El proyecto propone vertidos en East Fork of South Fork Salmon River (EFSFSR) y Meadow Creek. Como parte de los sistemas asociados con estos vertidos propuestos, Perpetua pretende construir desviaciones de aguas superficiales y pluviales, un t\u00fanel de desviaci\u00f3n para EFSFSR, un t\u00fanel de desviaci\u00f3n para Meadow Creek, un desv\u00edo para West End Creek, estanques de almacenamiento de agua, pozos de desagote a cielo abierto, sistemas de tratamiento de agua activos y pasivos, y diversas tuber\u00edas de conducci\u00f3n de agua y tanques de almacenamiento.<\/p>\n<p>La Liga de Conservaci\u00f3n de Idaho, Idaho Rivers United, Save the South Fork Salmon y Earthworks presentaron comentarios escritos conjuntos para el permiso propuesto el 21 de julio de 2025.
