El anuncio de la reuni\u00f3n, con la hora y el lugar, est\u00e1 disponible. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.env.nm.gov\/opf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2025\/11\/Notice-of-Public-Meeting_NM-Water-Quality-Commission.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aqu\u00ed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Los informes han revelado<a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/news\/local_news\/governors-office-leaned-on-cabinet-heads-to-get-fracking-waste-regulation-change-over-the-finish\/article_74c64d36-035b-4699-9719-1de1e882571d.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> evidencia contundente<\/a> de la administraci\u00f3n de Lujan Grisham presionando indebidamente a la WQCC para acelerar la aprobaci\u00f3n de una nueva norma propuesta y redactada por las grandes petroleras para permitir el vertido de aguas residuales tratadas de petr\u00f3leo y gas a los r\u00edos, arroyos, aguas subterr\u00e1neas y tierras de Nuevo M\u00e9xico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa oficina del gobernador manch\u00f3 a la Comisi\u00f3n de Control de Calidad del Agua en un intento de presionar a los miembros para que lograran que la petici\u00f3n de las grandes petroleras &#039;llegara a buen puerto&#039; para permitir la descarga de agua producida, un residuo t\u00f3xico, en las preciadas y escasas aguas limpias de Nuevo M\u00e9xico\u201d, dijo <b>Tannis Fox, abogado principal del Western Environmental Law Center<\/b>En mis 25 a\u00f1os de trabajo en este \u00e1mbito, nunca he visto este nivel de interferencia pol\u00edtica en la toma de decisiones de un organismo administrativo encargado de proteger la salud humana y el medio ambiente. Se supone que la WQCC debe actuar con imparcialidad y basar sus decisiones en la evidencia que tiene ante s\u00ed, no en directivas pol\u00edticas externas. Esta reglamentaci\u00f3n no puede proceder de forma justa. Hoy solicitamos a la comisi\u00f3n que reconozca este hecho. Esperamos que los comisionados se vigilen y anulen su voto viciado que permiti\u00f3 que la reglamentaci\u00f3n siguiera adelante.<\/p>\n<p>El WQCC, un organismo estatal independiente encargado de adoptar est\u00e1ndares de calidad del agua para proteger la salud p\u00fablica y el medio ambiente, tanto para las aguas subterr\u00e1neas como para las superficiales, debe escuchar y considerar la evidencia cient\u00edfica y los comentarios p\u00fablicos. <i>antes de<\/i> tomar decisiones que podr\u00edan afectar negativamente los recursos h\u00eddricos de Nuevo M\u00e9xico.<\/p>\n<p>Correos electr\u00f3nicos del Secretario Kenney del Departamento de Medio Ambiente de Nuevo M\u00e9xico (NMED), otros cinco secretarios del gabinete y la oficina del gobernador revelan que se les indic\u00f3 a los comisionados que votaran a favor de una petici\u00f3n presentada por la Alianza para el Acceso al Agua, Tratamiento y Reutilizaci\u00f3n (WATR Alliance), un grupo respaldado por la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas, antes de que el WQCC examinara los m\u00e9ritos de la petici\u00f3n. Se supone que el WQCC es un organismo normativo imparcial que debe basar sus decisiones en el historial cient\u00edfico que tiene ante s\u00ed, no en mandatos pol\u00edticos ajenos al mismo. Si bien la oficina del gobernador puede dirigir la pol\u00edtica ejecutiva general, no puede ordenar votaciones espec\u00edficas en casos espec\u00edficos ante la comisi\u00f3n sin tener en cuenta la evidencia del expediente.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEn un momento en el que vemos c\u00f3mo las normas institucionales y la integridad del gobierno se desintegran ante nuestros ojos a nivel federal, es devastador ver una falta de integridad similar a nivel estatal\u201d, dijo <b>Rachel Conn, subdirectora de Amigos Bravos<\/b>. \u201cConfiamos en que la Comisi\u00f3n de Control de Calidad del Agua tome decisiones imparciales basadas en las pruebas que tenga ante s\u00ed. Esto no ha ocurrido en este caso y, como resultado, la comisi\u00f3n ha puesto en riesgo nuestras aguas y comunidades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>En mayo, la comisi\u00f3n adopt\u00f3 una prohibici\u00f3n total contra el vertido de aguas residuales tratadas procedentes de la fracturaci\u00f3n hidr\u00e1ulica, bas\u00e1ndose en una propuesta del Departamento de Medio Ambiente de Nuevo M\u00e9xico (NMED) respaldada por el testimonio de expertos cient\u00edficos del NMED. Tan solo unas semanas despu\u00e9s, el 23 de junio, la Alianza WATR, un grupo de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas, present\u00f3 una petici\u00f3n proponiendo una norma que revocar\u00eda la del NMED. La norma propuesta por la industria permitir\u00eda el vertido de aguas residuales tratadas procedentes del petr\u00f3leo y el gas tanto en aguas superficiales como subterr\u00e1neas, en algunos casos sin ning\u00fan requisito de control.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, la direcci\u00f3n del NMED no autoriza a sus cient\u00edficos a participar en la elaboraci\u00f3n de la nueva normativa. Estos mismos expertos presentaron pruebas t\u00e9cnicas en apoyo de la normativa del NMED. En los 58 a\u00f1os de historia de la comisi\u00f3n, nunca ha habido una elaboraci\u00f3n de normativa sobre una norma que el NMED vaya a implementar en la que su personal no haya participado como parte interesada.
