La Oficina de Administraci\u00f3n de Tierras hab\u00eda prometido no ofrecer arrendamientos de petr\u00f3leo y gas en esta \u00e1rea, pero incluy\u00f3 parcelas dentro de la zona de amortiguamiento en una venta de arrendamiento que luego pospuso en respuesta a la protesta p\u00fablica.<\/p>\n<p>La legislaci\u00f3n de hoy es un primer paso \u00fatil para proporcionar un alivio muy necesario para el \u00e1rea, donde es com\u00fan ver bengalas de metano y equipo pesado al acercarse al parque. Esperamos trabajar con la delegaci\u00f3n y todas las partes interesadas para proteger el paisaje del Gran Chaco y considerar acciones para proteger no solo el Parque, sino tambi\u00e9n las comunidades que viven en la regi\u00f3n que ya est\u00e1n lidiando con los impactos adversos de las actividades de petr\u00f3leo y gas.<\/p>\n<p>Los recursos culturales del Chaco se extienden mucho m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los l\u00edmites del parque y la zona de amortiguamiento propuesta, hacia un paisaje que est\u00e1 arrendado en m\u00e1s del 91 por ciento para la extracci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo y gas. Las comunidades locales aqu\u00ed sufren intensamente los impactos continuos de la extracci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo y gas, con mala calidad del aire, tr\u00e1fico de camiones pesados y efectos perjudiciales graves para la salud. Como tal, esta legislaci\u00f3n es una pieza bienvenida de lo que debe convertirse en una conversaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s amplia que reconozca la responsabilidad del gobierno federal de abordar un legado de explotaci\u00f3n en el Gran Chaco por el bien de sus comunidades nativas vivas, as\u00ed como los recursos culturales insustituibles que hacen que el \u00e1rea el coraz\u00f3n del suroeste.
