El per\u00edodo de comentario p\u00fablico para esta propuesta es de 60 d\u00edas. Requiere que las empresas reparen equipos defectuosos y con fugas y reduzcan el desperdicio de gas natural en tierras p\u00fablicas. Desperdiciar metano no tiene sentido, sin embargo, las compa\u00f1\u00edas de petr\u00f3leo y gas expulsan metano a la atm\u00f3sfera de manera rutinaria y deliberada, lo queman como un producto de desecho de la extracci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo y permiten que se escape de equipos con mantenimiento deficiente. Seg\u00fan la Oficina de Responsabilidad del Gobierno de EE. UU., entre 2009 y 2015 se desperdici\u00f3 y se filtr\u00f3 innecesariamente suficiente gas natural para abastecer a m\u00e1s de 6 millones de hogares durante un a\u00f1o. La regla de desechos actualizada requiere que las empresas realicen la detecci\u00f3n y reparaci\u00f3n de fugas con tecnolog\u00edas asequibles y listas para usar, y restringe la ventilaci\u00f3n de metano (liberar gas a la atm\u00f3sfera deliberadamente) y la quema (quemar el gas no utilizado en la boca del pozo). La decisi\u00f3n de la administraci\u00f3n Trump de retrasar la implementaci\u00f3n de la regla de desperdicio de BLM permitir\u00eda que la industria evite estas medidas de reducci\u00f3n de desperdicio de sentido com\u00fan y contin\u00fae desperdiciando innecesariamente nuestros recursos de propiedad p\u00fablica mientras la administraci\u00f3n intenta descubrir c\u00f3mo eliminar la regla por completo como un regalo. a sus benefactores del petr\u00f3leo y el gas. Los desechos de metano no solo defraudan a los contribuyentes, sino que tambi\u00e9n da\u00f1an la salud p\u00fablica y contribuyen significativamente a las emisiones clim\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Desperdiciar:<\/strong> Seg\u00fan Interior, en 2014, las empresas de petr\u00f3leo y gas desperdiciaron m\u00e1s del 4 por ciento del gas natural que produc\u00edan en tierras federales, gas suficiente para abastecer de gas a casi 1,5 millones de hogares durante un a\u00f1o.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Salud p\u00fablica:<\/strong> El metano liberado por la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas viene empaquetado con otros contaminantes t\u00f3xicos (benceno, tolueno, etilbenceno, xileno) y compuestos org\u00e1nicos vol\u00e1tiles que forman smog y da\u00f1an a las comunidades.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Climatizado:<\/strong> El metano es un gas de efecto invernadero 87 veces m\u00e1s potente que el di\u00f3xido de carbono durante el tiempo que permanece en la atm\u00f3sfera.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contribuyentes:<\/strong> La regla de desechos de metano de BLM, si se deja en su lugar, ganar\u00eda a los contribuyentes alrededor de <a href=\"http:\/\/westernvaluesproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Up-In-Flames.pdf\">$800 millones en regal\u00edas sobre recursos de metano de propiedad p\u00fablica durante la pr\u00f3xima d\u00e9cada<\/a>.
