El Tribunal de Apelaciones del D\u00e9cimo Circuito confirma la decisi\u00f3n del Servicio Forestal de EE. UU. de proteger 400,000 acres de los veh\u00edculos todo terreno<\/em><\/p>\n

Santa Fe<\/em>, NM\u2014El lunes, la Corte de Apelaciones del D\u00e9cimo Circuito desestim\u00f3 la segunda demanda<\/a> por una organizaci\u00f3n defensora de los veh\u00edculos todoterreno que impugn\u00f3 la decisi\u00f3n de 2012 del Servicio Forestal de EE. UU. que restring\u00eda los viajes en veh\u00edculos motorizados en el Bosque Nacional de Santa Fe. WildEarth Guardians y Sierra Club, representados por Western Environmental Law Center, intervinieron en la primera demanda presentada por un caso de organizaci\u00f3n defensora de veh\u00edculos todoterreno para defender la decisi\u00f3n del Servicio Forestal.<\/p>\n

Antes de 2012, el Servicio Forestal permit\u00eda que los veh\u00edculos motorizados viajaran sin inhibiciones ("fuera de la carretera") a trav\u00e9s del Bosque Nacional de Santa Fe, sin tener en cuenta el da\u00f1o a los recursos naturales, el acoso a la vida silvestre o la alteraci\u00f3n de los paisajes tranquilos.<\/p>\n

El plan de gesti\u00f3n de viajes de Santa Fe protege los recursos forestales y la vida silvestre, incluidos los b\u00fahos moteados mexicanos, las salamandras de las monta\u00f1as de Jemez y los ratones saltadores de Nuevo M\u00e9xico, al restringir el uso motorizado a rutas y \u00e1reas identificadas. Tambi\u00e9n equilibra los usos en el bosque. La decisi\u00f3n elimin\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 5,000 millas de rutas, caminos y senderos motorizados, pero permiti\u00f3 que el uso motorizado continuara en m\u00e1s de 2,400 millas de rutas en el bosque. \u201cNos complace ver que se desestim\u00f3 este caso que busca deshacer protecciones paisaj\u00edsticas de vital importancia para el Bosque Nacional de Santa Fe\u201d, dijo John Mellgren del Western Environmental Law Center. \u201cSanta Fe es un lugar tan especial, y prevenir la degradaci\u00f3n ambiental a manos de los entusiastas de los veh\u00edculos todoterreno es un paso importante para preservar el bosque y sus valores \u00fanicos para las generaciones futuras\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cEl plan de gesti\u00f3n de viajes para el Bosque Nacional de Santa Fe fue uno de los m\u00e1s equilibrados en su enfoque y cuidadosamente investigado\u201d, coment\u00f3 Teresa Seamster, presidenta del Sierra Club en el norte de Nuevo M\u00e9xico. \u201cEl p\u00fablico, el bosque y la vida silvestre son los beneficiarios de los a\u00f1os de trabajo que se invirtieron\u201d.<\/p>\n
