Hoy, el presidente Trump declar\u00f3 que retirar\u00e1 a Estados Unidos del hist\u00f3rico acuerdo clim\u00e1tico de Par\u00eds. Esto rechazar\u00eda deliberadamente la voluntad de m\u00e1s del 70 por ciento de los estadounidenses que apoyan el acuerdo y las advertencias cada vez m\u00e1s alarmadas de la comunidad cient\u00edfica de que el cambio clim\u00e1tico, si no se controla, causar\u00e1 estragos en el \u00fanico hogar que amamos y compartimos: la Tierra.<\/p>\n

\u201cLa historia no mirar\u00e1 con buenos ojos a Trump\u201d, dijo Erik Schlenker-Goodrich, director ejecutivo del Western Environmental Law Center. \u201cSu imprudente decisi\u00f3n cede el liderazgo y la credibilidad de Estados Unidos en el escenario mundial. Pero es peor que eso. La decisi\u00f3n de Trump es moralmente reprobable y supone un gran sufrimiento para todos, pero en particular para nuestras zonas silvestres, vida silvestre y comunidades m\u00e1s vulnerables\u201d.<\/p>\n

El oeste americano es muy consciente de las causas y los riesgos que plantea el cambio clim\u00e1tico. La cuenca de San Juan de Nuevo M\u00e9xico y la cuenca del r\u00edo Powder de Wyoming son, por ejemplo, zonas de sacrificio por la dependencia de nuestro pa\u00eds de los combustibles f\u00f3siles, que impulsa el cambio clim\u00e1tico a trav\u00e9s de la emisi\u00f3n de gases de efecto invernadero. Recordemos que es la industria de los combustibles f\u00f3siles la que ha sembrado la confusi\u00f3n y obstruido la acci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica que se necesita con urgencia durante d\u00e9cadas. Se acerca el momento en que el p\u00fablico exigir\u00e1 un ajuste de cuentas.
