La Comisi\u00f3n examin\u00f3 abundante informaci\u00f3n de expertos cient\u00edficos y de ingenier\u00eda, presentada por el Departamento de Medio Ambiente de Nuevo M\u00e9xico (NMED) y organizaciones sin fines de lucro, que demostraba la inexistencia de la tecnolog\u00eda necesaria para tratar las aguas residuales de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas a escala suficiente para alcanzar niveles seguros para la salud humana y el medio ambiente. La Comisi\u00f3n lleg\u00f3 a esta conclusi\u00f3n y aprob\u00f3 una norma que proh\u00edbe la descarga de lo que la industria denomina \u201cagua producida\u201d. La Comisi\u00f3n ya ha tomado su decisi\u00f3n, por lo que no tiene sentido celebrar otra audiencia sobre el mismo tema tras la \u00faltima normativa.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Si la tecnolog\u00eda de tratamiento avanza lo suficiente como para lograr un tratamiento seguro de las aguas residuales de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas, la Comisi\u00f3n podr\u00e1 iniciar un proceso de reglamentaci\u00f3n entonces, o cuando la norma vigente expire dentro de cinco a\u00f1os. Sin embargo, no conviene iniciar un segundo proceso de reglamentaci\u00f3n en este momento.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">La organizaci\u00f3n demandante, Water Access Treatment &amp; Reuse Alliance (WATR), est\u00e1 compuesta por personas vinculadas a la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas. WATR propone permitir el vertido de aguas residuales tratadas de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas a las aguas subterr\u00e1neas y superficiales de Nuevo M\u00e9xico, semanas despu\u00e9s de que la Comisi\u00f3n determinara que dicho vertido es ilegal. <b>no<\/b> seguro.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>El NMED siempre figura como parte ante la Comisi\u00f3n en los procesos de reglamentaci\u00f3n de las normas que esta implementar\u00e1. Sin embargo, la direcci\u00f3n del NMED decidi\u00f3 que no participar\u00e1 en el procedimiento judicial y no permite que los cient\u00edficos del NMED que testificaron en\u00e9rgicamente contra el vertido de aguas residuales de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas en la reciente sesi\u00f3n de reglamentaci\u00f3n vuelvan a declarar. La ciencia importa.<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Deja que el <\/b><b>Los comisionados saben que no deben permitir que se celebre una audiencia sin la participaci\u00f3n del NMED. Son los cient\u00edficos del NMED quienes tienen la responsabilidad de proteger la salud humana y el medio ambiente, y quienes proporcionar\u00e1n informaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica objetiva. <\/b>WATR sirve a los intereses de los miembros de su industria, no al p\u00fablico.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Esta normativa se est\u00e1 impulsando a toda velocidad, y las organizaciones comunitarias est\u00e1n siendo aplastadas. No es un proceso justo y no es lo que la Comisi\u00f3n ha hecho en el pasado. Si se celebra una audiencia, deber\u00eda programarse para que las organizaciones sin fines de lucro puedan participar de forma significativa.<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">El agua producida conlleva riesgos:\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"2\">Un estudio de la EPA revel\u00f3 que la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas oculta al p\u00fablico aproximadamente 111 TP3 T de los componentes presentes en las aguas residuales. Es imposible detectar la presencia de contaminantes que se desconocen.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\">Actualmente, el estado de Nuevo M\u00e9xico carece de normas de calidad del agua superficial para al menos 180 sustancias qu\u00edmicas potencialmente t\u00f3xicas presentes en las aguas residuales de la industria del petr\u00f3leo y el gas. Es necesario establecer dichas normas para garantizar la seguridad p\u00fablica.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\">Las PFAS, conocidas como \u201cqu\u00edmicos eternos\u201d, se utilizan en la perforaci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo y gas y est\u00e1n presentes en las aguas residuales de esta actividad.
