A Message to Oregon’s State Leadership on Climate Change:

 

Press Hard, Right Now, for Real Reductions in Greenhouse Gas Emissions

 

Take Action: Email your state leaders and tell them you support strong state action in the 2008 legislative session to avert severe climate change.

I urge you to press ahead strongly in 2008.  Specifically, I ask that Oregon require, by law, that electricity providers, on an equitable, load-based basis, cap GHG emissions in the near-term and, by 2050, reduce emissions by at least 75 percent below 1990 levels. 

Without such a mandate, the GHG reduction policy you established in 2007 will not be achieved and Oregon’s leadership on the regional and national levels will be diminished.  Providing real solutions to climate change will be critical in the 2008 election.
