Greg
Executive Director Greg Costello (costelloatwesternlawdotorg) has been at the helm of the Western Environmental Law Center since 2002. With more than 20 years of experience as an environmental lawyer prosecuting cases that protect forests and endangered species in the Pacific Northwest he has represented clients in federal courts, state courts, administrative hearings and negotiations. Greg teaches the Environmental Law Clinic as a faculty member at the University of Oregon School of Law. He formerly served as the environmental community representative of the Washington State Forest Practices Appeals Board at the request of Governors Michael Edward Lowery and Gary Locke. Greg graduated the University of Colorado School of Law. He was a clerk for the Honorable Sherman G. Finesilver, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. Attorney Megan Anderson (andersonatwesternlawdotorg) has worked with several environmental groups throughout the West, focusing on water, forest, and endangered species protection. Megan clerked for the Honorable Alex Martinez at the Colorado Supreme Court after earning her law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law. Megan works out of our Southwest Office, 575-751-0351 x 135.


Matt B
Northern Rockies Office Director Matthew Bishop (bishopatwesternlawdotorg) has spent the last 10 years working to protect and preserve the West’s public lands, native species, and wild and scenic rivers. Matt’s work has included defending the reintroduction of the Mexican Wolf to the Southwest, Clean Water Act enforcement actions, and ensuring federal agency compliance with federal laws. Before joining WELC, Matt worked for the Montana Wilderness Association, the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide, and American Rivers. Matt is a 1998 graduate of Vermont Law School. Matt works out of our Northern Rocky Mountains Office, 406-443-3501 x 125.


 Susan Jane
Attorney Susan Jane Brown (brownatwesternlawdotorg) Susan Jane Brown joins WELC after two years as Natural Resources Council for Congressman Peter DeFazio (D-OR) in Washington, DC.  Prior to that, Susan Jane spent three years as a staff attorney with the Pacific Environmental Advocacy Center, Lewis and Clark Law School’s environmental law clinic.  Susan Jane graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 1997 and graduated from Lewis and Clark Law School in 2000.  Susan Jane works out of our Northwest Office, 503-914-1323.
   
Mary
Finance Officer Mary Cedarwolf (cedarwolfatwesternlawdotorg) joined the Western Environmental Law Center in 2006. Mary has 24 years of experience in Financial Management, including 10 years as a Tax & Accounting Manager of a local Financial Investment firm. Mary is an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and operates her own Tax & Accounting business out of her home. Mary loves the outdoors and hikes and camps with her dogs, family and friends. Mary works out of our Northwest Office, 541-485-2471 x 113.


 
Conservation Strategist Monique DiGiorgio (digiorgioatwesternlawdotorg) works to build relationships between WELC lawyers and the conservation community as well as local, state, and federal agencies. She also researches and develops key policies to protect the wildlands and wildlife of the West. Monique has worked for 14 years in conservation biology and ecology, most recently as the Executive Director and the Director of Development and Communications at the Southern Rockies Ecosystem Project (SREP). She serves on a working group of the Western Governors Association, teaches courses on wildlife crossings, transportation planning and funding, and serves on the La Plata County Wildlife Advisory Council.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Notre Dame. Pete
Attorney Peter M.K. Frost (frostatwesternlawdotorg) has represented conservationists in courts throughout the West for 16 years to preserve forests, wilderness areas, and wild and scenic rivers. Pete is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Oregon School of Law. From 1992 to 1999, he was an attorney with the Western regional office of the National Wildlife Federation. In 2000, he received the David Brower Lifetime Achievement Award for environmental litigation. Pete works out of our Northwest Office, 541-485-2471 x 109.


Dan
Attorney Dan Galpern (galpernatwesternlawdotorg) joined the Western Environmental Law Center in 2006 after serving, consecutively, as a clerk for the Oregon Federal District Court and the Oregon Court of Appeals. He previously worked as a public interest legislative advocate and policy analyst, with an emphasis on programs serving low income working families, and as a senior consultant to the California State Assembly on labor and economic policy. Dan holds a B.A. (philosophy) from San Francisco State University and a J.D. (certificate in environmental and natural resources law) from the University of Oregon. Dan works out of our Northwest Office, 541-485-2471 x 114.


Dina
Administrative Coordinator Dina Gonzales (gonzalesatwesternlawdotorg) attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona where she received her Bachelor's degree with honors in Environmental Biology. During her undergraduate studies, Dina was chosen as the recipient of several academic scholarships, notably, as the first recipient of the Environmental Fund for a Sustainable Future Scholarship. Dina works out of our Southwest Office, 575-751-0351 x 136.


Geoff
Attorney Geoff Hickcox (hickcoxatwesternlawdotorg) has been working in environmental law for 10 years, in partnership with Matt Kenna. Together they developed a successful private practice representing local and national citizen groups under a wide variety of environmental laws before joining the Western Environmental Law Center in 2005. Geoff is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law. Geoff works out of our Southern Rocky Mountains Office, 970-382-5902.


Russa
Director of Donor Relations Russa Kittredge (kittredgeatwesternlawdotorg) studied science education at Boston University and taught in South America before earning her J.D. with a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from the University of Oregon in 2001. Russa has served as an instructor at the University of Oregon, and more recently as Assistant Director of the Career Development Office at Tulane Law School where she focused on environmental and public interest program development and assisted students pursuing careers in public service. Russa works out of our Northwest office, 541-485-2471 x 102.
   
Katie
Director of Foundation Relations Katie Laughlin (laughlinatwesternlawdotorg) began working for the Western Environmental Law Center in May 2006. Born and raised in New York City, Katie ventured out to Eugene to attend the University of Oregon, where she graduated in 2000 with a double major in Political Science and Spanish, and a minor in Latin American Politics. Before joining WELC, Katie worked as the Development Associate for the Cascadia Wildlands Project and more recently, as the Assistant Director of Development for The John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts. Katie works out of our Northwest Office, 541-485-2471 x 106.


 Jackie
 Development Coordinator, Jackie Marlette (marletteatwesternlawdotorg) has wide ranging experience in conservation, outreach, and fundraising. She graduated summa cum laude from Northern Arizona University with a B.S. in environmental science, emphasizing in ecosystem management. Jackie has worked with non-profit organizations focused on community collaboration, forest restoration, river conservation, outdoor education, and regional planning. Passionate about nature for as long as she can remember, she also enjoys gardening, swimming, and playing the fiddle.  Jackie works out of our Northwest Office, 541-485-2471 x 111.
   

Attorney Sarah McMillan (mcmillanatwesternlawdotorg) has represented nonprofit organizations and individuals in environmental, land use, and constitutional litigation in administrative, state, and federal fora in both her private practice and previously at the Tuholske Law Office, a two-attorney firm in Missoula, MT. Sarah is a graduate of Williams College and received her law degree with honors from the University of Montana, Missoula, MT in 2000. Sarah works out of our Northern Rockies Office, 406-728-5096.


Erik
Southwest Office Director Erik Schlenker-Goodrich (eriksgatwesternlawdotorg) works to protect wildlands, roadless areas and old-growth forests. Prior to joining the Western Environmental Law Center, Erik worked for The Wilderness Society as an attorney and policy analyst, where he focused on public lands issues. Erik earned his law degree and an Environmental and Natural Resources Law Certificate from the University of Oregon School of Law. Erik works out of our Southwest Office, 575-751-0351 x 137.


 Jan  Attorney Jan Wilson (wilsonatwesternlawdotorg) has been representing Oregon community advocates and neighborhood groups in land use litigation for nearly a decade, both in private practice and in nonprofit public interest organizations.  A graduate of the University of Michigan College of Engineering and Wayne State University School of Law, Jan also serves on the board of Oregon Wild and the Lane County Steering Committee of Oregon League of Conservation Voters. Jan works out of our Northwest Office, 541-485-2471 x 104.
